What camera should I get?
Lately I have been wanting to get serious about photography and maybe even take a course. Do you recommend any particularly good cameras or courses?

My advice is to pick a Canon or Nikon system and stick with it. The camera body isn't really as important as you think, but decent megapixels is important if you are planning on printing your work on a large format. The most important part of a camera is the glass!! Your lenses are the life blood of any camera system. You change the bodies of your camera, but very very very rarily change the lenses and your lens collection should grow and not shrink. I have camera lenses that are over 40 years old! I have a Nikon D90 and I'm planning on upgrading, but I'll sell the body and just use my new lenses with the D3. If you are planning on taking a course, I'd start with a mid range camera, Nikon D40 or 60 (they've become a lot cheaper since the D3000 launch), if you go the Nikon route.
Just so you know, I'm a semi-pro photographer studying an MFA in Photography. If you'd like any more tips just let me know :-)
Great tips!
I'm currently shooting with a 550d, it's cheap but produces great results. I'm using it to film HD footage, do you suggest any prime lenses?
