• The Walking Dead: If you haven’t had a chance to watch this US zombie series yet, then now is your perfect opportunity, as Channel 5 are showing the whole first season starting tonight. A police officer wakes from a coma only to find that the world has been taken over by the walking dead. He sets out to find his family, ‘killing’ the infected left, right and centre, whilst making new friends who join him.

• London Marathon: One of the biggest running events in the world is taking place in central London this weekend- the London Marathon. Over 35,000 people raise almost £50 million each year for charity by running the 26 mile race. If you want to get involved, then why not go and cheer on the runners and do a spot of celebrity hunting too. Have a look at this guide to find the best spots to go and watch.

• Joan Miró Exhibition, Tate Modern: Twentieth-century Spanish artist Joan Miró (above) is considered one of the greatest surrealist painters. This is the first major showing of his work in the UK for nearly fifty years and you should not miss the chance to see over 150 of his paintings, drawings, sculptures and prints.

• Vaisakhi, Canary Wharf: Celebrate Sikh New Year in the traditional colourful and vibrant way. For over ten years Canary Wharf has hosted Vaisakhi, allowing people from all cultures to enjoy the music and dancing that typifies Sikh celebrations. There is something for everyone, whether you want to try out some traditional dancing, watch the fearsome martial arts displays or gorge yourself on Indian food.

Cinema

• Scream 4: If you are a fan of horror films then chances are you will know the first three Scream films word by word. It has been ten years since the last one was released and much has changed in the horror film world since. To compensate, Scream 4 tries to make self-conscious nods to the modern trends, whilst still appearing dated itself. But then, if you’re looking for a fun slasher film without much depth, this is perfect Friday night entertainment.

Nights Out

• Roller Disco at The Renaissance Rooms, SW8: If you want a night out but don’t fancy a trendy club, then why not try out a roller disco where the only objective is to have sheer, unadulterated fun. Playing classic disco, funk and house music every weekend at the The Renaissance Rooms nightclub in Vauxhall, this is an original twist on your standard club night. However, it often sells out, so make sure you book tickets to avoid being disappointed.
