Your Plans for the Royal Wedding

It is the wedding of the decade on Friday and what better place to watch Prince William and Kate Middleton get married than in London. Whether you plan to join the millions hoping to catch a glimpse of the couple in real life or if you simply want to watch the wedding on a big screen in London, you have a number of different options.

Here we go through some of the best locations and top tips:

Locations

• The Wedding Route: 1.5 million people are expected to flock to London to line the streets along the actual wedding procession route, all hoping to catch a glimpse of the happy couple. You should make sure you get there very early and then stay in one place. To see the full route click here.

• Hyde Park & Trafalgar Square: In these two historic London locations, massive screens are showing the wedding and you should expect to enjoy a party atmosphere. The aim is for those attending to feel like wedding guests, so as well as a suggested dress code, there are wedding bands, and stalls selling champagne, Pimm's and wedding cake.

They are both free, non-ticketed events and places will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis once the sites open at 7am on Friday. About 20,000 people are expected to head to Trafalgar Square and about 200,000 are anticipated in Hyde Park, so make sure you get there early to avoid disappointment.

• Lord’s Cricket Ground: Cricket is one of the most English sports there is, so if you want an authentic English experience , why not try out Lord’s on Friday. They are hosting a cricket match between two English counties, whilst also showing the wedding on big screens and having a party.

• Local Pubs: There is nothing more British than a pint down at your local pub. Therefore, what better way is there to watch the wedding than to head to your nearest with a group of friends and celebrate with the locals. Almost all will be showing the wedding and there should be a great atmosphere wherever you go.

• At Home: A great way to celebrate the day is to have a party at your own house. Put up bunting, prepare a buffet, put the champagne on ice and invite your friends round. You can watch it either on tv (almost every channel is showing it), or else online, on the royal’s YouTube channel.

Top Tips

• Prepare for Rain: The latest weather forecasts are threatening to put a dampener on the day, predicting heavy rain showers, so make sure you take some water proof clothing even if it looks sunny in the morning.
