‘O Come all ye’ Faithful': Christmas Time is Here!

Boots. check. Gloves. Check. Scarf. Check. Winter days have arrived. The temperatures have dropped, the Christmas decorations are up and the festive spirit is in the air.

One can feel the festive mood in the weeks leading to Christmas. The beautifully decorated Christmas trees, grand and majestic, the lights in Oxford Circus that demand a walk through the busy streets once the sun has set. People thinking of family and presents. A lovely time of year. Below are a few suggestions to get into the Christmas spirit:

TV

  • Lambing Live: We’re not going to lie to you, this weekend’s TV is not looking brilliant. However, if watching sheep give birth LIVE is your kind of thing then this programme is perfect for you. It may sound like an odd idea for a tv show, but it is strangely compelling.

When? Friday 8th, 9-10pm on BBC 2

Sport

  • The Grand National: The biggest horse racing event of the year takes place tomorrow. Held in Aintree, in Liverpool, the race has been running annually for over 170 years. It is the one race of the year that a lot of people bet on even if they know nothing about horse racing. There are 40 horses racing over 4 and a half miles, so the winner is very hard to predict. Why not do a sweepstake for a bit of fun.

When? Saturday 9th, 4.15pm on BBC 1
